The 2026 World Cup Draw to Take Place in New York: When and Where?

FIFA has officially announced that the draw for the FIFA World Cup 2026 will be held on July 15, 2025, in New York City. This highly anticipated event will determine the group stage matchups and schedule for the tournament, which, for the first time in history, will be hosted by three nations: the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The ceremony will take place at the prestigious MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, part of the greater New York metropolitan area. This venue will also host the World Cup final on July 19, 2026.

The 2026 World Cup will be historic, expanding the number of participating teams from 32 to 48, divided into 12 groups of four. The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will advance to the Round of 32, making a total of 104 matches over 39 days of competition.

The 16 selected host cities are distributed as follows: 11 in the United States, three in Mexico, and two in Canada. Along with MetLife Stadium, key venues include Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca, which will host the tournament’s opening match on June 11, 2026, and BMO Field in Toronto, Canada.

As the draw date approaches, excitement builds among fans and national teams eager to discover their group-stage opponents and map out their journey toward football’s most prestigious trophy.
