Brazil to Face Argentina Without Neymar and Key Players

Brazil’s national team has confirmed that Neymar Jr. will miss the upcoming South American World Cup Qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina. The Santos forward suffered a hamstring injury during his team’s victory over Bragantino, preventing his long-awaited return to the national squad after more than a year.

In addition to Neymar, defender Danilo and goalkeeper Ederson Moraes have also been ruled out due to injuries. Head coach Dorival Júnior explained that the medical staff had been closely monitoring all selected players and ultimately decided to replace those unfit to play.

The replacements announced are:

  • Lucas Perri (Olympique Lyon) replacing Ederson.
  • Alex Sandro (Flamengo) replacing Danilo.
  • Endrick (Real Madrid) stepping in for Neymar.

Brazil currently sits in fifth place in the South American qualifiers, with 18 points from 12 matches. The upcoming games will be crucial for securing direct qualification to the 2026 World Cup, set to take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
